Kailash Overland Tour Overview
Kailash Overland Tour to the holy Mount Kailash, ‘the center of the universe’ is a truly a center where two essential keys ‘nature’ and ‘spiritualism’ meets. The mountain is sacred to 4 religions including ‘Hinduism’, ‘Buddhism’, and ‘Jainism’ and pre-Buddhist animistic religion. Hence, every year thousands of pilgrims flock to gain blessings from the holy mountain.
According to Hindu Mythology, it is believed that ‘Lord Shiva’ lives at the summit of Mount Kailash, where he sits in eternal medication with his wide goddess ‘Parvati’. Tantric Buddhists believe the 21,778 foot mountain is home to Buddha Demchok. Whatever one’s belief, Mount Kailash unarguably is set in a spiritual landscape surrounded by pristine natural beauty.
The journey to Mount Kailash is one of contrasts. From the busy streets of Kathmandu, to the plains of Tibet, from modern hotels to more modest dwellings, from flying to trekking on the paths up the side of the mountain, it is the spirit that drives the pilgrim. The main attraction of the mountain is the pilgrimage circuit around the mountain. It normally takes 3 days and should only be undertaken by the well-prepared and fit.
