Mustang Tiji Festival Trek Overview

Mustang Tiji Festival Trek has great value of the ‘Tiji Festival’ also known as ‘the chasing of the Demons;

The festival is a three-day ritual celebrated in Mustang region of Nepal. The festival tells the story of a deity ‘Dorje Jono’ who battled against his ‘demon father’ to save the Mustang kingdom from destruction. Through the festival the events and story of the myth are re-enacted. The festival is timed to collide with the end of the dry season and ushers in the wetter monsoon season.

Michel Peissel was the first westerner to see the ‘Tiji Festival’ in 1964. During that time, Mustang was completely closed to outsiders, so he has to get special permission from the government of Nepal to enter the region. Despite his arrival on the last day of the celebration (he was unaware of the observance of Tiji, the experience left a lasting impression on him. “The scenes I saw were so extraordinary and so unexpected that I dared not believe my eyes and even today I have some trouble in believing in the reality of what I saw that day).

We at Skyline Treks and Expedition has been organising Mustang Tiji Festival Trek with great care and comfort for our valued visitors. Contact us for more info.

Upper Mustang Trek

After arrival in International Airport, in Kathmandu for a moment I feel like I was in next different world….(Just waking after a century) Mr. Madhav and his trek operator teams were waking there waiting for me with my friend’s name Andrew banner with beautiful bunch of flowers, It was my first arrival to Nepal as I really was free of hassle with their meticulous mutual behaving….. I was in Nepal for Everest base camp trek for 21 days, really really full of enthusiasm…now I believe that “once isn’t enough” for Nepal as I was only hoping it’s fake…. During the trek tenure, skyline treks & expedition porters, mainly friendly guide Raj and the accommodating facilities were really marvellous…. Just have no words how to conclude……… it was my best trip that I ever had with local tour operator

Thanks Skyline Treks & Expedition
