Kakani lies north-west of Kathmandu only two hours of drive from the International airport; it’s a great place to enjoy the picturesque Himalayan landscapes of central Nepal with never-ending views of Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Ganesh Himal. From Kakani, we trek to Shivapuri; the area lies in the territory of Shivapuri watershed and national park. Shivapuri watershed supplies more than a million liters of natural spring water to the city daily. Besides, the national park protects a vast amount of endangered animals and species of birds. Passion through Chisapani from Shivapuri we make it to our next destination ‘Nagarkot’. 

Nagarkot is one of the most popular hill-stations of Kathmandu known for mesmerizing sunrise and sunsets. Therefore, we would highly recommend you to stay here overnight and wake up to the most beautiful sunrise above the snow-capped peaks of Dhaulagiri in the west to Kanchenjunga in the east. On a clear day, Nagarkot bestows you with the unobstructed view of Mighty Everest, and other peaks including Manaslu, Ganesh Himal and Langtang.

This relatively shorter Sundarijal Chisapani Nagarkot trek takes you beyond the rim and hustle bustle of the Kathmandu valley.

Each trekking trail passes through the dense lush green forests and ethnic local villages; together they make a great trekking experience! We begin our Sundarijal Chisopani Nagarkot trek only an hour drive from Thamel. Even though it’s very near to the ever so busy ‘Kathmandu city’; Sundarijal falls under the area of Shivapuri watershed and National park. Therefore, Sundarijal is totally covered with dense forests consisting habitat of 177 species of birds, which includes at least nine threatened species, 102 species of butterflies with several endangered species, and 129 species of mushrooms.

After enjoying the natural and wildlife experience of Sundarijal, we hike upwards to our next destination ‘Chisapani’. It’s a great view-point for marvelous sunrise and sunset. Chisapani is inhabited by local Tamang’s who are known for unique Tibetan alike culture and settlement. We ascend towards Nagarkot from Chisapani;
