Often referred as the ‘the Last Forbidden Kingdom’, this trans-Himalayan region of Mustang is closely passes as a desert set in the Himalayas. The high desert region of the Tibetan influence, Kaligandaki, from the Tibetan border south to Kagbeni is generally called Upper Mustang. Our trek to Upper Mustang starts from Jomsom to Kagbeni, the entry point of upper Mustang Region, Following through the banks of Kaligandaki River upstream, we get to Lo-Mangthang, the capital of the upper Mustang.

Since, the trekking permits into this region was only allowed since 1991, Upper Mustang is still untouched by the modern civilization, everyday life in Mustang prolongs the way it has carried on since centuries. The city wall and the four storey palace in Lo-Manthang are some of the beautiful architectures of Mustang region. Inside the walled city of Lo Manthang are some of the largest Tibetan Buddhist Gompas.
