As the closest road-head, Jiri is now the trail-head for many treks into the Everest region. Only 5 % of dare-devil trekkers attempt the difficult yet the ‘most rewarding’ trek to Everest Base Camp from Jiri. The other 95% choose to fly into the small airstrip at Lukla, thus cutting off a week of difficult but beautiful trekking. The trail-head from Jiri into ‘Sagarmatha National Park’ is referred as the ‘classic route to Everest’. All early Everest expeditions—including the one led by John Hunt that put Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary on the summit—passed through Jiri. So Jiri is also called the “Gateway to Mt. Everest”.
Skyline’s Trek from Jiri to Everest Base Camp
We start the trek to Everest Base camp from a bus ride from Kathmandu to Jiri ‘the original trail-head to Everest’. The trek passes through Solu Khumbu, the homeland of the Sherpa people who migrated from Tibet in the 14th and early 15th century. Then we trek through splendid villages with artistic monasteries in Junbeshi (2675m) passing by Khartung which offers the first view of Mighty Everest. However, the main aim of this trek is to climb up to Kalapatthar, which takes over you with the panoramic views of over 65 snow-capped peaks.
Other than the exotic Buddhist monasteries and spectacular mountain views, the area also offers a large mammals such as Himalayan Thar, Musk deer, Common Langoor, Jackal, Weasel and over 118 species of birds.
Unlike the other easy treks to Everest Base camp, this trek from original trail-head ‘Jiri’, requires more trekking days – However, there are other prime factors that you need to consider before concluding with any trek packages. So we suggest you get in touch with us, so that our experts can suggest you the best trekking package that supports your health and time constraint the best!

Jiri - Everest Base Camp - Chola Pass Trekking
If you want to find another meaning of life or feel real nature power and risk sometimes:-), I wish you to visit Nepal! Its not just Everest highest peak and other regular notion we can imagine before… Its about honest people and their culture, your guts and amazing mountains. We made Gokyo trek to Renjo la for 10 days in the end of may (weather was perfect!!!) and came back same way. All organization (tickets, transfer, hotels and etc.) of our trip was made by Skyline company. I really was surprised about your work, guys!!! I appreciate your service and honest. Thank you so much, you are the best. See you at next year. Whole 10 mount stayed until my next trip to Nepal and I wish not to think about it, cause started to miss straightway.
